Museo Egizio

We were lucky to scan at the second-largest Egyptian museum in the world, in Turin, Italy, a huge set of astonishing artifacts, including a very interesting oval porphyry vessel with wavy, snake-shaped handles.

Measurements we took:

  • Laser scanning

  • Photogrammetry

  • Precision caliper measurements

  • Surface profilometry

Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology

We 3D-scanned ancient Egyptian stone vases housed at the Petrie Museum in London. Building on Sir William Flinders Petrie’s investigations, we analysed more than 20 objects to better understand how they were made over 5,000 years ago. I developed software that enabled us to assess the circularity and concentricity of these artefacts, measurements that as we found, sometimes rival those of modern machined parts.

Measurements we took:

  • High accuracy laser scanning

  • Photogrammetry

  • Precision caliper measurements
